| Sunset sailing past Cape Wrath, Scotland |
Welcome to my travels Want to read a monkey story? Read about it here
I have done a bit of work on my Scotland and Inverness pages, and they seem to be OK now..... I hope to soon complete the rest of my Scotland pages..... |
My sailboat :-) ...2 minute walk from my home... 60°20.05N 5°14.80E She already has her own internet page. Click here
"Tintessa" is a 32' masthead rigged Maxi95, with two double cabins. She is an old lady from '76, but in exelent condition.
About straight West of her buoy and mooring are the Shetland Islands. Only 200 nautical miles. You do have to cross the North Sea though :-) |
Bergen The town I live in. Be my guest and see my Bergen page ;-)Click hereI try here to welcome travelers with what they can expect to experience. I discovered that I can use VT as an excuse to play tourist and take my camera along to make new discoveries. |
Seagull? No, this is NOT a Seagull. It is a much larger seabird called a Gannet. I do however have a few good tales about certain Seagulls on my pages. The Fish & Chips King can be read on my Lerwick page, and the King of the Locks can be read on my Inverness page.Another VT member, utttz (Paolo) has an interesting observation on the Peruvian Seagulls. |
| Puffin on the cliffs of Fair Isle |
The Puffin (Fair Isle) I took this picture crawling on my belly on the edge of the cliffs of Fair Isle
I guess Fair Isle IS off the beaten path.... Another "off the beaten path" place I have been, is the Old Forge at Inverie. Listed in Guiness record book as mainland Britains most remote Pub! I would realy like to know if any other VT'ers have been there!
Note to self: Read book recomended by member kathymof: "Last Places a Journey to the North" |
It is said... Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance. - Confucius The best way to measure social intelligence is to observe a persons parking manners. - daarth It is always a great disappointment when the stapler runs out of staples. - daarth I am usually a non-violent man. I can?t help it though; it is fun to bully a bully. - daarth Sometimes I bend all my intellect into making as little sense as humanly possible. Other times I succeed without even trying. - daarth A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. -Douglas Adams I love deadlines. I love the whooshing sound they make as they go by. -Douglas Adams If the person you are talking to doesn't appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear. -Winnie the Pooh I got the shuffle. Lightweight, honk it on. And you shuffle the shuffle -Georg Bush I`m no angel, but I`ve flapped my wings quite a bit. - Mae West The next time you decide to stab me in the back, have the guts to do it to my face. -Mal in "Firefly" HAPPY TRAVELS!

Circumnavigating Scotland July 2002 I circumnavigated Scotland with a friend and his 33' sailboat (Scanmar 33). This was done by using the Caledonian Canal. We crossed the North Sea South-West on the way out, on through the Canal, up and around the Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland, and back to Bergen. We did go ashore a few places and circumnavigated the Scottish pubs and distilleries... ;-) 1141 Nautical miles! I have started writing about this adventure, and you can find the start in the travelogue below....There you can also find out if I managed to save a cap that blew overboard..... -...and yes, it IS possible to sail on Loch Ness - see my page from there ;-) |
