    • Favorite Thing: In the early days, the Kootenay River was often prone to flooding this lush, fertile valley. After creating miles of dykes, the river is now confined to a more stable course and the 25,000 acres of the valley is now a very productive area for grain and market gardens, mainly orchards and farm produce.
