 | Norway's most sacred building by bpacker Nidaros Domkirke (Cathedral of Trondheim) is probably the most impressive church I've seen in the whole of Scandinavia. This imposing, grey-coloured 11th century church took my breath away the first time I saw it and like the Notre Dame in Paris, one of its facade (west) also has an impressive motley of carved figures of royalty, biblical figures and saints.  | Remarkable hairstyles, Hamer women by sachara The Hamer people are known for their remarkable hairstyles. The women rub a mixture of ochre, water and animal fat in their hair, creating coppery-coloured tresses, known as goscha. When we walked at the market of Dimeka some women and girls liked to touch our arms and hairs and asked us to touch their hairs. There was a lot of laughter, if our hands or arms became coloured with the red-brown ochre. [read more] |

Kissimmee, Florida – What do you think?
This month, we’ve got a new ad partner - the Kissimmee, Florida Convention and Visitors Bureau who is showing off some of their area travel activities on our Kissimmee Top 10 page. My brother lives in Florida, and I’ve visited a bunch of times, but I’ve never been to Kissimmee, so I’m wondering from VT’ers who know the place, what I should expect to see and do if I visit. If you haven't read up on this wild adventure across the Caucasus Mountains, go to CaucasianChallenge. It’s an exciting and whacky race starting in Budapest, Hungary on August 30 and concluding September 15 in Yerevan, Armenia. The team representing VirtualTourist will be handing out special picture cards as they meet members, and potential members, along the way. So, if you’re anywhere in the vicinity, please cheer on our group as it crosses eleven countries on its way to the finish line. We hope the new team carries on the tradition set by the victors of the Autorickshaw Challenge of 2008 led by our own General Manager, Giampiero Ambrosi.
The Caucasian Challenge and Autorickshaw Challenge is sponsored by the same charitable organization.
