Alaska Things To Do
Alaska: Accessible Anchorage Accessible Anchorage by PA2AKgirl
Anchorage is our biggest city and where we currently reside. I’m putting on my “things to do” section because, despite the fact it is considered to be “20 minutes from Alaska” and “just another city”, it does provide services and opportunities you will not find anywhere else in the state. Before we moved up here, I always wondered why this city was as large as it was and aside from work, what compelled people to live in Anchorage of all places.... [read more]
Oahu Things To Do
Oahu: Pacific Ocean City Pacific Ocean City by KiKitC
We visited Waikiki because the Kiwanis International Convention was being held there. Waikiki is a big CITY. Yep, with high standing buildings, high priced shops and high hoped tourists. The nightlife is electric and alive. The best thing about being in Waikiki was the convenience of having all the stores so close. After the accident and surgery, I wasn't venturing out far, so it worked out well. (Many times, Gordie just ran out and brought... [read more]

2 DAYS - and COUNTING - to the start of the race - and the team has been named - MEET THE VT ADVENTURERS!!!

ant1606, frankcanfly, JohnSakura, Laurel914,

By the looks of this fantastic four, we know the trip will be fun and victorious!
YEA Team!!!

If you haven't read up on this wild adventure across the Caucasus Mountains, go to Caucasian Challenge. It’s an exciting and whacky race starting in Budapest, Hungary on August 30 and concluding September 15 in Yerevan, Armenia. The team representing VirtualTourist will be handing out special picture cards as they meet members, and potential members, along the way. So, if you’re anywhere in the vicinity, you could cheer our group on as it crosses eleven countries on its way to the finish line. If you get a picture of the team as it passes by, we’ll send you a special VT gift.

We hope the new team carries on the tradition set by the victors of the Autorickshaw Challenge of 2008 led by our own General Manager, Giampiero Ambrosi.

The Caucasian Challenge and Autorickshaw Challenge is sponsored by the same charitable organization.

Charity starts at Home – in the UK

Yes, a couple of our charitable UK VT members, Deus_Ultima, from Northwich, Cheshire, and Kierk1, from Portstewart, Northern Ireland, both donate their time as Little League coaches. And now, due to their friendship on VT, are bringing their two teams together for a week of competition in Portstewart. August 5 through the 9th are the dates and will be particularly exciting since this will be the first time out of England for some of these Year 7 through Year 9 Cheshire students. Besides the travel being a life changing experience, the generosity of Kierk1’s team in donating equipment is the really special aspect of this wonderful event.

Thanks guys for being such a great example for a your groups of youngsters

Another tragedy hits one of our members

Death is inevitable; however, when the natural order of life changes its course, it makes the pain even greater. Member 6HARRYJAMESSR recently lost his beloved 31 year old son, Nathan. Nathan who is pictured and honored on his father’s pages, was proud of his Navajo heritage and culture and was adept in the American Indian Pow-wow Fancy Dance. He leaves behind a beautiful 11 year old daughter, Jayden.

We’re so sorry for your loss, Harry. Our thoughts are with you and your family. VT

Four VT Members Win the "Weekend Warrior" Contest!

We had a great turn out for the "Weekend Warrior" Contest! It's amazing the wealth of destinations one can explore on a weekend getaway! Picking a winner was tough, but the following four VT members really deserved the win - congrats to ATLC, goutammitra, Kathrin_E and travelgourmet! Check out their contest entries.
